2011 Maple Sugar Festival Lake Champlain Squares' 41st annual Maple Sugar Festival will be held March 11 and 12 at Frederick Tuttle Middle School in South Burlington, Vermont. Callers will be Steve Kopman of Knoxville, TN, John Marshall of Sterling, Virginia, Don Moger of Montreal, Canada and Dave Wilson of Boda, Sweden. Cuers will be Rick and Rosina Wagenhoffer of New York.
The staff is excellent and everyone can be assured of a very enjoyable weekend. Dancing will begin Friday evening at 7:00 with a one-hour Trail-in of Mainstream, Plus, Advanced, Challenge and a Rounds Party followed by our regular dance program. Saturday will include Round Dance teaches, workshops, intros to the next level during the day, and a Rounds Party at 7:00 PM.
We will have our traditional sugar on snow party Friday night after dancing. A Chinese Auction and an apparel shop will be open Friday night through Saturday. Our popular snack bar will be open for the entire Festival except at noon on Saturday, when we will offer a delicious homemade lunch.
As in the past, we count on everyone's help to work in different capacities during the weekend, and sign-up sheets are available at workshops several weeks before the event so you can indicate where you would like to work. Chinese Auction items also can be brought in to workshop. Festival ribbons will be available at workshop as well, and a 50% discount on the fee is offered in return for work on the Festival for a minimum of three hours.
